Peel the Pumpkin
The annual fly-in of Times Squares.
Each year since 1985, Times Squares has hosted a fly-in usually in late October, originally with a simple Halloween theme. About the start of the new millennium, the club adopted a distinct theme for each fly-in, as did many IAGSDC clubs. Peel the Pumpkin kept the costume aspect of Halloween, but allowed for a different and fresh atmosphere each year. There is a costume parade on Saturday night.
Originally held in various venues in New York, with members hosting many out-of-town travelers. As venue and hotel costs soared, alternative locations were secured in nearby New Jersey to keep costs down.
The 2020 fly-in weekend was transformed into a virtual one-day event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, held Oct 31. "Zoom, Monsters! Zoom!"
The 2021 fly-in weekend was transformed into a one-day event due to the low registration caused by concern regarding the Delta variant of COVID-19, held Oct 23. "The Phantom Of The Fly-In"
