Obituary

We are deeply saddened to share that Steven David Luchini, aged 66, unexpectedly passed away on October 16, 2024 from complications of a cardiac arrest. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Steven David Luchini was born on June 9, 1958, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where he spent his childhood. He went on to attend the University of New Mexico for both his Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

But more than anything, Steven was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved spending quality time with his children and granddaughter, making up bedtime stories, working on school projects, and having deep conversations. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.

In his free time, Steven enjoyed square dancing, going for drives with his trusty companion and spunky dog Rollo, and spending time with his friends and family. He was passionate politically and liked engaging in spirited debates. He was an active member of the LGBTQ+ community and always fought for love and equality above all else. He was eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others and always had a smile on his face.

Steven is survived by his children, Matthew, Raquel (Eric), Jacqueline; his granddaughter, Charlotte; his siblings, Kathleen (Henry), Frankie (Candace), Esther; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Corina Luchini. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Two Celebrations of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd,10:30AM at Tortuga Arts Space, 901 Edith Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 as well as on Saturday, November 9th, 11AM at the OLPH Catholic Church in Truth or Consequences, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Casa Q, a non-profit that provides a safe living option for LGBTQ+ youth and allies who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, at https://casaq.networkforgood.com/projects/78755-support-youth-at-casa-q.

Remembrances

I taught Steve to square dance some 12 years or so ago with the Wilde Bunch. He was a lovely giving soul.
