Remembrances
Hello to all my East Coast dancers and those that attended the 25th convention in Cleveland.
It is with great sadness that I share with you that Stan Kawecki from Cleveland City Country Dancers has passed away. In addition to being a long-time member of the club, Stan also served as co- chair with myself and Earl Melvin for the 25th IAGSDC convention, Touch A Quarter Century.
Stan will be missed by many in the Cleveland LGBTQ+ community. But none more than those of us who got to know Stan by his love of gay square dancing.
Stan was such a nice and funny guy. He did lots for the club.
We stayed with him a couple of times for flyins.
Cleveland’s flyins (I attended all) were some of our favourites.
Steve Sterritt I totally agree Clevelands Fly-Ins were the very best. Stan was a fantastic person. So generous and loving.
He was always able to keep the mood fun and light hearted. I spent many a time out with him and other CCD club members after the square dancing ended in the evening. What a wonderful person.
What a shock. Stan was very generous and had a wonderful sense of humour. He was always smiling and greeting everyone at the Cleveland Load the Boat fly-ins which Steve Sterritt and I attended every one of them. Stan will be missed by the square dance community but especially by everyone in the gay community in Cleveland. RIP Stanley.
Stan is a big loss to the vintage square dance community. The amazing CCCD Load the Boat events, and the Cleveland Convention are memory highlights of how much Stan cared and how much fun he was. Today I'm sad at this horrible news.
