Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Kathryn "Kathy" Jean Knowles announces her death, after a courageous battle of malignant melanoma. Daughter of the late Donald "Pinky" and Jean Flynn Knowles, Kathy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 12, 1957 and died in Avondale Estates, GA on May 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving children and family.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kaitlin Whitenack (Tom), Courtney Lewis (Hunter), and Andrew Whitenack. Survived by her siblings: Leo Knowles (Mary Ellen), Bob Knowles, Monica Reding (John), Margaret Knowles, Pat Knowles (Joan), Ann Tjaden (Kurt), Connie Knowles. She will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service was held in Decatur, GA on May 16, 2021 at the Decatur First United Methodist Church. Private family burial will be held in Omaha, NE at the Calvary Cemetery on May 29, 2021. Memorial donations in memory of Kathy may be made to Duchesne Academy, 3601 Burt Street, Omaha, NE 68131 or to charity of choice.[1]
Remembrances
Kathy was an active member of Hotlanta Squares for several years. She was the mother of 2 daughters and a son, she was very close and supportive of them.
Kathy was very active in her Methodist Church and even drove the bus for them . She would always contribute to a homeless person. Kathy was always athletic and competitive. For several years , Kathy square danced off and on due to health setbacks. She had 2 of her sisters care for her for several months. Her brother spoke kind memories of his sister at her memorial service. Kathy will be missed by a wide variety of friends.
