Remembrances

Amador Rolando Gonzalez
April 30, 1944 — May 6, 1987

My sweet Amy is now in peace, teasing and flirting with the angels. after a painful battle with AIDS.

Amador was born in Laredo, Texas. Expected to die soon after birth, Amador overcame tremendous obstacles and devoted his life to teaching and spreading warmth, love and laughter. He worked for 16 years as a teacher and student activities advisor at Sacramento High School, where he was deeply loved and respected by students and faculty. He served twice as the president of Mexican-American Educators, danced with the Capital Squares, Primes 8s and Western Stars square dance clubs, and was a proud Gold Medal winner for billiards during Gay Games II. He loved to dance, was an avid movie-goer, a great cook and a constant burst of energy.

He is loved and remembered by his lover for nine years, Jeffrey Herre, our kids Princess and Phoenix, and the many wonderful friends in our life that we consider our true family. We will miss his playfulness, childlike innocence, sarcastic wit, and love of life.

I love you Amador — forever.
Jeffrey Herre[2]

We were all saddened to learn our compodre, Amador Gonzalez, passed away May 6th from AIDS. He had been a member of our club for several years and was very active in club affairs and will be sorely missed. Heart felt sympathy for his lover, Jeff {Herre}, is shared by everyone.
