Obituary

Thomas Allen Ellwood
Thomas Allen Ellwood of Southeast Portland died of complications due to acquired immune deficiency syndrome Wednesday in a Portland hospital. He was 51.

Friends plan a gathering in Mr. Ellwood's honor in his home at 1 p.m. Oct. 13. A Buddhist memorial service was held Sept. 27 Thursday in Portland, and a private family memorial was held Saturday , Sept. 29, in Otsego, Mich.

Disposition was by cremation.

Mr. Ellwood was born May 24, 1939, in Kalamazoo, Mich. He served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. He graduated from Boston University in 1966 and moved to Portland about 1979. He worked as a self-employed stained-glass artist.

Survivors include his mother, Elanore Livingston of Otsego; sisters, Cheryl Heckman of Kalamazoo, and Jan Myers and Cindy Prussing, both of Otsego; and longtime friend, Ernest W. Ulitt of Portland.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Cascade AIDS Project.[1]
