Obituary

Scott Wilford Upright
1943 - 2008
It is sad to announce our friend and companion, Scott Upright, 65, has passed on June 25, 2008, at his home in Falls Church, Va., of liver cancer.

Scott was born in Madison, Wis., May 1, 1943, into a family of public servants. In 1949 the household moved to Kenosha, Wis., where Scott graduated from high school in 1961, having achieved academic leadership and artistic merits.

At Northwestern University, Evanston, Wis., Scott majored in theater management and art history. His summers were filled with performances of musicals and reviews in Chicago and Warsaw, Ind.

As a typical young gypsy, he had several New York credits directing, producing and writing material for musical theater. He was a company manager for USO tours and he appeared in the vampire soap opera, "Dark Shadows."

Later career moves included architectural interiors at MOMA and interiors for private friends and small businesses in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.

In 1984, Scott completed a masters degree in information technology and consulted with several professional and technical associations on information systems.

Scott loved chamber music and the graphic arts, both of which he enjoyed creating during his last decades and travel with partner, Elwin Aspegran, to local and international sites like Machu Picchu, Peru; Angkor Wat, Cambodia; Kyoto, Japan; Krakow, Poland.

Scott was sober in AA for his final 18 years.[1]
