Herbert Riley Burns
Educator, 43
Herbert Riley Burns of Denver, an educator, died of AIDS related complications. He was 43.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. July 6 at St. John's Episcopal Church. There will be cremation.
He was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Hamilton, Bermuda.
Burns earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in linguistics from the University of Florida.
He taught high school English in Cincinnati.
He is survived by his companion, Chip Ross, Denver; his mother, Zetta Burns, Hickory, N.C.; his father, Herbert Burns, Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Cynthia Burns, Ambridge, Pa., and Sonja McMillan, Bryson City, N.C.; and four brothers, Dennis, Garland, Texas, Brian, Hickory, N.C., and Douglas and Jimmy, both of Dallas.[1]
