Obituary

Patricia Hockman of Lower Gwynedd passed away on January 30, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia on March 2, 1949 to the late Edward B., and the late Catherine T. Hockman, and was raised in Glenside. A graduate of Abington Senior High School, Pat went on to earn a BA in Music from West Chester State College (University), and an MS in Organization and Management from LaSalle University. For many years Pat built and tuned pipe organs for Fritsche Organ Co. in Allentown. She achieved the distinction of being the first woman in the U.S to achieve Master Organbuilder status from the American Institute of Organbuilders. Later Pat joined Orbit Advanced Technologies where she worked in program management and export compliance. Throughout her life, Pat was a lover of all things musical: playing several instruments, attending concerts and plays, and listening to a variety of genres. Above all she believed in the joy of laughter and strove to make us all smile. She stressed that "play" should be a part of every day. She is survived by her spouse, Kathy Briggs, with whom she spent over 32 years, and to whom she was married in 2014. She is also survived by her sisters Catherine Becker and Janet Wortman, both of Lake Wylie, SC, and 5 nieces and their families. Relatives and friends are invited Friday, February 3rd at 6:30 PM to calling hours and a memorial service at 8:00 PM at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, 150 N. Main St., Ambler, PA 19002 [1]
