In Their Own Words
What Squaredancing Means To Me
I grew up in Japanese society with much more formal & rigid ideas. Bowing is polite, but touching is not. Square dance is much more American with friendly gestures. Being formal, I cannot even shake hands. So, at Square dance, I can touch all the dancers’ hands and make friendly gestures without embarrassment. Music and body movement keep my life more joyful and exciting.
What Stained Glass Windows Mean To Mw
I associate stained glass with glass on church windows. Especially when I see the splendid old-fashioned windows in churches like the rose window at Notre Dame in Paris. Christian churches seem to always have stained glass, so I relate stained glass to Christianity even though I am Shinto.
I enjoy the vision of the light through the stained glass shining colors over a person praying. It always makes me feel more spiritual. And spirituality binds everyone together.
