Obituary

Country boy Mike Hartig, born in January 1962 in Pierce, Idaho, came to Sacramento several years ago and was thoroughly enjoyed by those who met. He died here August 6, of complications with AIDS, at the age of 27.

Michael worked at Rubinstein's on Fulton Avenue and was right at home arranging the "sets" at the store for display. He worked there as Assistant Warehouse Manager until late this spring.

Our hearts are filled with memories of Michael, and this will make us whole again and fill the gap he leaves behind. He really knew how to live, and he and that beautiful wicked grin will be missed.

After a Sacramento memorial service at Cornerstone Christian Assembly, he was taken home to Idaho where nearly the entire town of Pierce, over 200 people, turned out for his funeral. His ashes were laid to rest in the grave of his beloved grandmother in Pierce, near the family home.

Michael was the baby of the family. He's survived by his mother and father, Ann and Leroy, four brothers and a sister (Tom, Ron, Gary, Bob, and Bonnie), their spouses, and seven nieces and nephews; and numerous friends who will sorely miss him.
