Obituary

Michael Abling
9/4/56 - 3/2/87
Michael left us on March 2 after a long battle with AIDS. He died peacefully, his family at his side. Mike is survived by his parents, Sam and Louise of Palmetto, Florida and his many friends.

Mike was an avid square dancer. He danced with the Foggy City Squares and the Goldrush Performance Team.

Mike will be remembered for his courage, energy, and love of life. Last year, already weak, he set a goal to dance in the Gay Pride Parade. He danced the entire parade route. He taught all who knew him a lesson in accepting fate with grace, humor and humanity.

A Memorial Celebration to his life was held in Buena Vista on April, 26, 1987.

In accord with Mike's last wishes, his ashes were quietly scattered at sea. All his effects will be sold and the proceeds donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the San Francisco AIDS Fund. Those wishing to make donations can forward a check to his executor, Alan Hall, at P.O. Box 15218, San Francisco, CA 94115.[1]
