Remembrances

Melinda was born and raised in California with her brother.  When she was a teenager, the family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Her Step-father acquired a horse ranch.  Melinda and her brother were exposed to a new way of living.

After getting a college education, Melinda enlisted in the Air Force.  During this time, she married the father of her only child, Chris.  Melinda became a single mother, and endured a number of professional and personal experiences with her resilient quality.  She achieved a Special Education certification and became a secondary education teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools.  She was an impressive educator, always pro-active and positive, even with the most challenging students.  Melinda utilized humor and tact in her teaching approach.  She was quite the force.

Her experience with square dancing began in 2006 with introduction to the Wilde Bunch.  She suddenly discovered a new passion, and what a passion it was.  Within a few years Melinda was an active member in several Albuquerque Square groups.  Everyone embraced and admired Melinda as a positive and active individual.  She and her son, Kris Cullymore, attended several IAGSDC conventions and fly-ins.  For a total of 12 years, Melinda was a dominant force in Albuquerque square dancing.

Melinda left us in January 2019.  We still feel her loss.
