Obituary

Kurt Scheckermann, 61, of Decatur, Ga., formerly of Pompton Plains, N.J., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Kurt was born in Pompton Plains and graduated from Pequannock Township High School. On Aug. 12, a memorial gathering will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. For many years, Kurt was an active member of the Church of the Redeemer in Morristown, N.J. Kurt was a bright, witty person who loved to play basketball as a younger man. He later coached CYO basketball and attended many college games with his friends, including NCAA tournament games. Kurt relocated and resided in Atlanta, Ga., in 1997 until his passing.

On June 25, Kurt suffered a massive stroke and left us peacefully with friends by his side.

Kurt is survived by his brothers, Pete (Jane) of Indian Land, S.C., and Roy (Martha Gilleran) of Bound Brook, N.J., and sister, Nancy Zarriello (Dan) of Pompton Plains. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Scheckermann, a niece and a nephew.
