Remembrances

Kit was born on April 8, 1946 and passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015. She was a resident of Muskegon, Michigan at the time of passing. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Donations to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.

"Kitty" was my sister, 2 years older and as such we shared our childhoods - in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin when very little, Cherry Point, NC for first grades, Tacoma, WA for 5 years, Coeur d' Alene ID where Kit graduated from HS in 1964, and then to Muskegon MI where she married in 1967.She was my protector and ally in family squabbles, my confidant, my best friend- the one who was the best listener, biggest cheerleader, occasional critic, and only person who I called "teacher" for over 50 years.

Kitty was a tremendous mother to Christy and Donny, Grandmother to Naomi and Isabelle Langlois and Eric and Ryan Crays and a Great- Grandma to Otto Santana, a favorite Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and big sister to Tom, Barbara, and Nancy all of whom frequently sought her guidance, opinion, and assistance in all things, especially her secrets to success in growing anything at all from a seed or just how one should make potato salad.

Kitty suffered the loss of her larynx in 1991 due to an aggressive cancer that her doctors predicted terminal within a year - she beat it for 25, in large part just to show them they were wrong! Adding to her burden was a new heart valve over 10 years ago. I never once heard her complain or feel sorry for herself through all of the years of medical difficulty. She was the strongest person I have ever known. She will be missed immeasurably, remembered lovingly, and forgotten never.
