Obituary

ZUNTAG, Judie
With dignity and grace, our beautiful Mom sailed from this horizon on to her next adventure. Mom passed away on Tuesday, July 27th, 2004, surrounded by her family. Judie was born on March 4th, 1939 in Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Bossier City High School in 1957, where she served as a school mascot and was voted "Most Athletic Girl". For 13 years, Judie was a military wife and lived in Maine, Puerto Rico, Michigan and Nebraska before settling in California in 1972. Judie graduated from Yuba College in Marysville, in 1976 with an A.S. in Social Services. She retired from Pacific Bell (where at age 50, she played softball with co-workers). Post-retirement work included working with senior citizens. An active volunteer, Judie gave her time to the Girl Scouts, Red Cross, serving as a reading tutor, SPCA, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and Compassion in Action. She loved traveling, reading, dressing up for Halloween, sailing, the Sacramento Monarchs, good music, good jokes and most of all her kids and grandkids. Judie is survived by her parents, Charles and Dorothy DeMaine, brother, Charles DeMaine Jr., daughters Suzanne (and her fiance Chris), Melinda and Colleen (and husband Dale), grandsons Derek, Phoenix and Morgan and a host of relatives and loving friends. A celebration of Judie's life will be held at the Cliff House restaurant in Folsom on August 2nd, at 1:30PM. Please wear bright colors to celebrate Mom's vibrancy and enthusiasm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O. Box 1390, Dixon, CA 95620.[1]
