IN MEMORIAM: JOE RUBIN
Dear Joe
Joe Rubin, my friend,
You were so right
Taking care of our planet
Was your lifelong fight.
Your zest, your zeal
Was your ultimate appeal.
You made me feel good
When you said I was witty
And in a tight skirt,
You said I looked pretty.
And now you’ve passed on
To your resting haven
You were my mentor
My political maven
I can see You Now
Up in Square Dance heaven
Grouping the clouds
Seven by seven
Declaring a section as “non-smoking”
And telling all that you’re not joking.
Your heart and soul was in the right place
I’ll miss your beautiful, beaming face.
Love,
Antonio
Joseph Rubin died June 27. In lieu of flowers, he requested any donations to be sent to WBAI radio station, Greenpeace, or ACT-UP.[1]
