Obituary
James Robert Swank, a former employee of Tektronix Inc., died Sunday in the Hillsboro home of his mother and stepfather of complications arising from acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in University Park United Methodist Church. He was 38.
He was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Williamsport, Ind., and lived in Indiana as a youngster. After moving to Cornelius in 1969, he graduated from Hillsboro High School.
A printer and cameraman, Mr. Swank worked for Tektronix Inc. for about 15 years until he retired because of illness in 1990.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn of Hillsboro; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Stanley Johnston of Hillsboro; father, William Swank of Cornelius; sisters, Evelyn Wheeler of Attica, Ind., and Jody Ladd of Redmond, Wash.; brothers, David of Vernonia and Jeffry of Lafayette, Ind.; grandmother, Mildred Woodworth of Greenfield, Ind.; and his longtime companion, Robert Conrad of Portland.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Kaiser Permanente home hospice program or to Cascade AIDS Project.[1]
