Dane Kenyon Cormac died peacefully at Casa de la Luz Hospice on January 26, 2011. Born in Buffalo, New York on November 20, 1956. He then moved to the Chesapeake, MD area. In college Dane studied business, history and social studies. He attended Anne Arundel Community College where he received his Associates degree in General Studies in 1976. Later in 1978 while at Towson State University he received his Bachelor's degree in International Studies.

In the early eighties, Dane moved to Tucson where he started his 27 year career with the City of Tucson. There he held a number of positions including Page at the Tucson Public Library, Customer Service Clerk for Tucson Water, Dispatcher for Tucson Water and Administrative Assistant for the City of Tucson's Housing and Community Development Department.

Dane was also an active member of Tucson Celtic Festival Association and Seven Pipers. There he developed the Torchlight Ceremony for TCFA. Dane also served as host at the Clan Chattan tent at the various Scottish games over a two year period. He whole heartedly enjoyed being standard bearer for McBain of McBain. Moreover, throughout the years he had great pleasure in giving the Toast to The Lasses at the Robert Burns dinners. T-Squares was another of Dane's passions. In 1990, Dane happily joined T-Squares, an openly gay square dance group. Known for his attention to detail, He was elected president from 1993-1995. More recently Dane served as the group's secretary. He helped to organize biannual fly-ins and was always helpful in assisting new members to feel welcome. Dane's gregarious and happy nature made him a valuable member to the group during his 20 year association.

In his spare time his hobbies included linguistics, enjoying architecture, playing piano and watching British television comedies.

Mr. Cormac's generosity also overflowed into his favorite charities like United Way and Wingspan.

Preceded in death are his adopted parents, John and Betty Finley. Surviving family members are adopted sisters, Cindy and Nancy and cousin, Debra Brockway of CA. Also surviving is his soul mate and partner of 20 years, Christopher Brandon and their many close friends.
