Remembrances
He will not have any more suffering. He was a wonderful husband, and I was so happy to be with him.
In reflecting upon Chris Homer's life and legacy, I'm reminded of how fully he contributed to the creation and continuity of Triangle Squares. Chris and a couple of other fellows coordinated some square dance events in the spring of 1986, and the interest was great enough to coalesce into classes being organized for September 1987 with Anne and Joe Uebelacker calling.
Chris and Barry Caven attended the Convention in Phoenix, Arizona in 1988, where Triangle Squares was officially welcomed as a member of IAGSDC.
As Chris was a naturally gifted leader, he was the first President of the club, inviting others to join the Board of Directors, organizing classes, club nights and a yearly weekend fly-in event. Chris produced the club newsletter in those early years, informing club members and others about the club and our events. Those foundational steps helped the club's subsequent leaders secure a strong foothold in the LGBTQ dance community.
Chris continued being an inspirational presence in Triangle Squares for many years until he retired from dancing in the mid-2010s. In 2017, he was awarded the Silver Triangle Award for his work on the Maple Leafs Regroup Executive and various club contributions.
Chris married his husband, Osamu Miyabe, in March 2006, and they lived in their condo on Maitland Place in downtown Toronto.

I am sad to pass on the news that Chris Homer died last Saturday of pneumonia.
I first met Chris when I was learning C2, and he danced with me in the C2 hall at ACDC. He was a gracious and generous partner. He attended many of our Fall Challenge Weekends, where he was always a cheerful presence, often participating in the puzzles with other people. Chris was very kind and the sort of person who helped make things work. He was active in the gay square dance world, and I’ve linked his page on the IAGSDC history wiki. I will miss Chris, and I extend my condolences to Osamu.

So sorry to learn of the passing of Chris Homer last evening. He was one of Triangle Squares founding members back in the late 80’s and did a lot for our club over his many years of square dancing with us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his husband Osamu Miyabe. May he now rest in eternal peace. God bless - Brian & Brian
Chris was a real gentleman and will be remembered for his kindness and contributions to square dance. Condolences to his loving husband Osamu.
Sad news indeed he was a bright and intelligent man with a sharp wit. He will be missed. Our sympathies to Osamu
So sad. Condolences to Osamu. Chris was lucky to have you with him. Chris was smart and funny and generous with his time.
I'm very sad to learn of Chris's passing. We worked together on the Toronto 2016 Convention Committee, and that's when I got to know what a wonderful person he was. I'll truly miss our annual "date" at Convention. Sending you wishes for strength and good memories, Osamu.
