Remembrances

Cal Grogan, Class of ’90, died Sunday morning, September 17th. I’ll miss him greatly. With his impish smile and dancer’s grace, he was an important part of my early years of square dancing. He and I roomed at our first IAGSDC Convention in 1991 (with Chuck Rose) in Miami. I still laugh remembering our antics on and off the dance floor.

Cal performed as part of Howard Richman’s Silver Spurs, the Canyon City Cloggers and Times Squares’ demonstration squares.

He is survived by his lover, Steve Rosen (50 Horatio Street, #6, NYC 10014) and his parents Cal (St.) and Anna Grogan (104 Hoppe Lane, East Peoria, IL 61611). A memorial service will be held in November, place and time to be announced. Anyone having pictures or video footage of Cal performing, please contact me at 675-5550.
