BRICKEY—Robert Jerome Brickey, age 28, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends who loved him on March 4, 1993 of complications with AIDS. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Robert (Bobby) Brickey is survived by his parents, Bobby Joe and Crusie Brickey of Silver City; sister, Jennifer Brickey Danley and husband, Richard of Colorado Springs; half-brother, Gregory Brickey and wife, Margie of El Paso, TX; half-sister, Christine Medlin of Michigan; nephew and Godson, Jarrod Allen Danley; niece, Jessica Brickey; and nephew, Zane Alexander Brickey; grandmother, Janie Brickey of Norton, VA; special friends and companions, Patricia M. Ryan and Matthew D. Seligman; and a large family of friends. Bobby was born in Silver City, NM on April 8, 1964 at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, TX. He was a graduate of Silver City High School, and went on to study Biology at New Mexico State University, where he graduated in December of 1986. Robert entered military service as an Army Reservist and was later commissioned as an officer, as distinguished graduate of his OCS class at New Mexico Military academy, Roswell. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years and five months. Throughout his military career he distinguished himself, being awarded the Meritorious Service Ribbon, and twice awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Bobby was extremely proud of earning Expert Marksmanship status. He was a great credit to the units he served. Bobby moved to Albuquerque in 1987, and worked as an Operating Room Scrub Nurse at St. Joseph's Northeast Hospital. Once Bobby was diagnosed with AIDS, he moved into Medical Administration until he was no longer able to work. Bobby prided himself on his fine Western Dancing, reading and music. Leaving the work environment, Bobby focused on his spiritual goals of striving to arrive at unconditional love free of any judgement. In accordance with Bobby's wishes, his body will be cremated and a memorial service held at the Alumni Chapel at UNM at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 1993.
