Obituary

A memorial service for Alan Donald Robertson, vice president for Moore Information Inc., a Portland public opinion research firm, will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the HIV Day Center, 3835 S.W. Kelly St.

Private interment will be in Montana.

Mr. Robertson died of a respiratory infection Sunday in his Southwest Portland home. He was 38.

Mr. Robertson was born May 18, 1952, in Malta, Mont., and was a 1970 graduate of Malta High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Montana, and in 1977 received his doctor of law degree from the university.

Mr. Robertson began a private law practice in 1978 in Missoula, Mont. In 1980, he worked as an attorney for the National Home Builders Association in Washington, D.C., for about a year before moving to Helena, Mont., to serve as chief counsel and deputy secretary of state for Rep. Jim Waltermire, R-Mont.

He moved to the Portland area in 1986 to join the firm of Moore Information Inc., and was vice president at the time of his death. He helped to establish the HIV Day Center in Southeast Portland.

During his college years, Mr. Robertson was active in the Young Republicans and attended two national presidential conventions. He was a board member for the national Young Republicans organization and had served as a U.S. representative to the University of European Democratic Students program in several European cities during the summer of 1977.

Surviving are parents, Dean and Evelyn Robertson of Helena; sister, Linda Firebaugh and brother, Brian, both of Missoula, Mont.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the HIV Day Center.[1]
